This tour will give you the chance to explore all the different elevations on Mount Etna, starting from the slopes up to the summit craters. During the climb you will see the changing landscape, beginning with the lower farmed slopes with typical dry stone walls and varying agriculture. Continuing up, we will walk through woodland areas that occasionally clear, revealing dark lava flows that carved a path straight through the vegetation.

Once we arrive at 2000 metres, we will get on the cable car that will take us to 2500m, followed by a 4×4 bus that will transport us to 3000 metres above sea-level. At this height, we will find the so-called lava desert where, due to the altitude, not a single species of plant manages to grow. We will head to the base of the constantly-active summit craters where you will be able to appreciate the breath-taking view of a large part of Sicily, and then we will visit the lateral craters formed in the important 2002 eruption. The tour will continue with a visit to another typical aspect of Mount Etna: the lava tunnels. With helmets and torches we will head into the bowels of the volcano and you’ll be able to see how and why lava caves are formed.

All activities may be subject to variations in case of unfavorable weather conditions at the discretion of the guide. From 0 to 4 years old children do not pay and from 5 to 10 pay half.
