On this tour our destination is the Peloritani Mountans that make up the northwest side of Sicily. The Peloritani Mountains represent the oldest geological evolution of the island and are the least explored, owing to the difficulty of the high and steep terrain.
We will reach one of the most evocative places in the mountain chain, known as Rocca Salvatesta, a rocky protrusion 1340 metres high. We will head towards the summit along the narrow rocky path, from which you can admire the 360° view of the Northwest of Sicily: with the Aeolian Islands to the North, the Nebrodi Mountains to the West, to the Peloritani Mountain chain to the East and, to the South, the spectacular enormity of Mount Etna.
In the afternoon, we will visit Novara di Sicilia, a village lying on the slopes of the mountain where we will be able to admire the workings of a watermill, which is still active.
